Lena Friberg is since 2021 appointed Professor of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics at Uppsala University. She obtained her PhD from Uppsala University in 2003, and during 2003-2005 she was a postdoc fellow at University of Queensland, Australia. In 2014 she was promoted to Professor of Pharmacometrics. Lena has supervised 23 students to PhD degree and is currently the main mentor of 9 PhD students. She leads the educational unit Pharmacokinetics and is since 2023 the Head of the Department of Pharmacy. Lena is also co-founder and advisor to Pharmetheus.
The ultimate goal of her research is to advance the use of preclinical and clinical data to accelerate drug development and efficiently suggest optimized therapies in patients, through modelling-based strategies, and with a focus on antibiotics and anticancer drug therapies. She has published 190 peer-reviewed articles and has an h-index of 56. She has been awarded the Giorgio Segré prize from EUFEPS for distinction in the field of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, the Innovation award from ISoP and been appointed ISoP Fellow.
