Dr. Vivaswath Ayyar is Associate Director, Clinical Translational & Systems Modeling, within the Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics Department at Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Ayyar is committed to advancing drug development through innovative, data-driven, and quantitative model-informed strategies that improve decision-making and drive impactful outcomes for projects, portfolios, and patients. At J&J, Dr. Ayyar brings PK-PD expertise within matrixed compound development teams by applying concepts of basic and clinical pharmacology and disease pathway knowledge to optimize candidate selection, dosing, and trial design, enabling streamlined development of novel therapeutic RNA, small molecules, and antibodies. His areas of R&D experience and impact spans disease areas of immunology, immuno-oncology, cardiovascular and metabolism (thrombosis and MASH), and neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s Disease).
Viva Ayyar received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo followed by the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, also from UB, with Dr. William Jusko. He joined Janssen in 2019 and his research has focused on mechanistic PK-PD, PBPK and QSP modeling since. Dr. Ayyar serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UB and has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and patents. He also serves on the Editorial Board of CPT:PSP and as Past-Chair of ASCPT's Early Career Community.
