Executive Director
Eli Lilly and Company
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
I joined Gilead Sciences, Inc. in 2022, bringing over 15 years of diverse experience in academia, pharmacometrics consulting, and the pharmaceutical industry. I hold a BS and MS in Computer Engineering and Science, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country (Spain). During my Ph.D., I completed an internship at Harvard Medical School’s Center for Biomedical Informatics (Boston, MA). My postdoctoral research was conducted at the University of Navarra’s School of Pharmacy (Spain) and Indiana University’s Division of Clinical Pharmacology, where I was later promoted to Assistant Professor.
In 2014, I transitioned to Eli Lilly’s PK/PD & Pharmacometrics Department (Indianapolis, IN), applying modeling and simulation to support decision-making across preclinical and clinical drug development phases. In 2020, I joined Metrum Research Group, offering pharmacometrics and clinical pharmacology expertise to a range of pharmaceutical clients. I have held an adjunct position at Indiana University’s Division of Clinical Pharmacology since 2014.
While my current role at Gilead involves leadership responsibilities, my passion remains rooted in modeling and simulation. I believe leaders with deep technical expertise are essential for driving innovation and progress. Empowering others, particularly junior scientists, to find their authentic voice and foster an inclusive, collaborative environment is one of my core values. Diversity of thought, driven by varying cultural, academic, and personal experiences, is crucial for innovation.
I am also deeply invested in mentoring early-career scientists, especially women, to inspire the next generation of pharmacometricians. Collaboration between industry and academia is vital to advancing the field, and I remain committed to enhancing the impact of pharmacometrics in drug development, ensuring its role as a foundational science.
