Niklas Korsbo, Ph.D. (he/him/his)

Senior Product Engineer
DeepPumas, Pumas-AI Inc., Sweden

Dr. Niklas Korsbo is a senior product engineer at PumasAI, where he leads the development and application of DeepPumas, which facilitates the seamless integration of machine learning into nonlinear mixed-effect models. After an education in theoretical physics (Ba., Ms.) at Lund University, Sweden, he did his Ph.D. in systems biology at Cambridge University where he studied gene regulatory networks and molecular information processing mechanisms. Already deeply interested in scientific machine learning and developing methodologies for modeling biological systems, he joined the pharmacometrics community and started his present position in 2020. He is now working with several approaches to maximize the accuracy and usefulness of longitudinal models through hybrid mechanistic and machine-learning techniques. In domains ranging from oncology to ophthalmology and even epidemiology, he is developing and applying new ways of utilizing our information on patients for better individual-level understanding and prediction of disease outcomes and treatment effects.
