Francesco Brizzi, PhD, Senior Disease Modeller at F. Hoffmann-La Roche
Francesco works both as a Disease Modeller and pharmacometrician at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, within the Predictive Modeling and Data Analytics (PMDA) chapter in Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). Most of his work consists in providing modeling support for the ophthalmology portfolio, with a focus on early-stage clinical projects.
Francesco earned his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Cambridge, where his research involved using modeling techniques to estimate HIV incidence from a large real-world surveillance database in the UK. In 2018, he joined Roche as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where he worked on integrating large-scale data with PK/PD models and developed methodologies to conduct more efficient trials by leveraging historical control data. His academic and professional journey has fueled his passion for both modeling and statistics, and he is dedicated to bringing these disciplines closer to enhance informed, data-based, drug development.
Outside of work, Francesco enjoys swimming, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors.
